Exploration & Adventure: Content 4
Follow in the footsteps of Wallace! This is not an exaggeration and it is true that on Tiger Blue, you will visit and explore areas that have changed little since Wallace's time in Indonesia. The uninhabited islands of Komodo, the wild southern coastline of Flores, really do give you an insight into what it must have been like for the explorers like Wallace, to come upon these islands. Their geography and natural history remains as fascinating now as it was then and opens your eyes to a very different part of the world. Indonesia stretches over a huge area- the distance covered from London to Baghdad- and the islands within it provide such a range of landscape, natural history, cultures and peoples. Access to most of these areas on a traditional timber phinisi such as Tiger Blue allows you an adventure in comfort and style that was not available to these explorers of old, or indeed, to modern day travelers who try to access these locations overland.
