Tiger Blue is built in the style of a traditional wooden phinisi. With ironwood hull and teak decks she was completed in June 2008. Tiger Blue was built by Haji Abdullah and his team on a beach at Bira, South Sulawesi. The Wilkinson and Foster Families had specific needs to be filled and children were a big factor in the design. Wouter had a huge input into the technical design and was constantly on site whilst David went to Bira regularly to ensure the spaces were what the families wanted. Rebecca contributed to the interiors and design elements. All parties required the boat to be very comfortable, practical and well equipped for adventure. We all also took into consideration that we needed to be able to view our children when they were wandering about the boat and we needed all the extra paraphernalia that would keep them happy in all weathers.
